WTHR highlighted AFH’s continued presence and advocacy as partners raise concerns about delaying emergency shelter availability. AFH's work was uplifted as part of a community-wide response to protect lives in unpredictable weather.

“Indy Homelessness Providers Delay Winter Plan Citing Warmer Weather Patterns”

Indianapolis Business Journal (IBJ, Nov 2025)
The IBJ reported that the City’s Winter Contingency plan would not begin until Dec. 1 — a month later than usual. Allies for Humanity was featured for stepping in to fill the gap by opening overnight space when temperatures reach 32 degrees or below.

KT White shared that assuming November weather won’t create a housing surge “is a risk for community members” that AFH could not justify.

KT White, Executive Director of Allies for Humanity, spoke on the city’s Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) and why sustaining outreach and a dignified, welcoming space for neighbors is essential.
