Call to the Heart: Join the Emergency Winter Response Team

When the cold hits, we rise together.
This winter, Allies for Humanity is activating our Emergency Winter Response Team to keep our unhoused neighbors safe, warm, and seen — and we need you to step in.

We’re calling on 100 compassionate volunteers to help ensure that no one is left outside when the temperatures drop. Every hand, every heart, every night of warmth matters.

Who We’re Calling

  • Individuals age 19+ with reliable transportation (college students welcome)

  • Compassionate, dependable, and open-hearted people

  • Ready to show up for others—free from judgment, shame, or projection

  • Ideally able to support a 5-hour shift

  • Comfortable serving in roles such as:

    • Kitchen Support & Meal Prep

    • Listening & Companionship

    • “Angel Watchers” — overnight presence ensuring rest and safety

What We’re Doing

  • Providing emergency overnight shelter this winter

  • Filling in the gaps the city isn’t covering

  • Offering dignified, barrier-free care rooted in unconditional love

This is how we transform crisis into community.  This is how we build resilience, together.

What We Offer to Volunteers

  • Training & Orientation: Boundaries, safety, and comfort in care

  • Optional Trauma-Informed Care learning

  • Experienced leadership: 30+ years combined service with proven impact

  • The chance to help build a grassroots model for humane, sustainable response

What to Expect

Volunteering with Allies for Humanity means stepping into a rhythm of warmth, presence, and care.

Each night follows a simple, intentional flow that honors both rest and relationship.
